green eggs and rice

I brought home some spinach from the farm the other night and suggested we have it with eggs-

this is what happened:

I was imagining a nice spinach fritatta, or perhaps a soufle? instead i got a plate of 'spinaten puree'. it was actually delicious and, being the favorite childhood dish of one austrian fellow, was quite a success all around. it's basically pureed spinach with garlic and a roux poured over slow-cooked sunny-side up eggs and a bed of rice. i added soy sauce to my rice, which was frowned upon by the traditionalist, but delicious nevertheless.

I would have never thought of doing that.

And now that I've seen the picture I'm sure I wouldn't have thought of doing that either. Presentation is key to culinary success, and, well, I'm sure this was tasty, but it would be a hard sell to my family, that's for sure. Still, I'll trust you that it was good!

Green gravy over rice? Rice with melted crayons? T2 says it looks like green icing. T1, who actually likes spinach, said "ooooooo!"..not in a yummy way.

It reminds me of the other
Dr. Seuss book "Bartholomew and the Oobleck"

Oh. My.
Even this lover of seaweed soup and pickled herring is left speechless.
All I can think of is, my, how our little Shley has grown up!
And the fact that this was a favorite childhood dish of anyone's is astounding.

Perhaps you should make him Ozark Burgher?

OK, Ash. Time to post a new photo. After a month of seeing Green Eggs on your kitchen table, I'm really getting grossed out. No need to write witty banter. Just give us a new pic. Eew.
